ACTIVITIES NEAR BY.....
LOOKING FOR SLOTHS
Sloths could be anywhere, but try looking in Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge.
SURFING, SWIMMING, BEACH WALKING
Driving 15 - 20 minutes north or south of Pacific Edge, you will encounter
at least a dozen beaches, some very isolated. Some with World Class Surf, such as
Dominical, Dominicalito, Punta Dominical point break, and Playa Hermosa.
The Whales Tale, south of Pacific Edge near Uvita, is a rare tombolo, a geologic
formation, where sand was deposited at the base of a rocky island over centuries
of tides which connected the head to the coast, creating this 'whales tale'.
This is the beginning of Ballena Marine National Park, the beaches south of here are
all more protected with smaller waves from the reef and rocks offshore.
This is where the Humpback Whales migrate to have their babies from both the
north and south hemisphere, twice a year.
HIKING ~ BIRDING ~ ZIPLINE
Pacific Edge is fortunate to have only 10 minutes away, the world known private
national wildlife reserve, "Hacienda Baru", consisting of 330 hectares, with
several ecosystems, including mangrove swamps to primary rainforest. A safe haven
for Monkeys, Sloths, Ocelots,Jaguarundis, Anteaters, Kinkajous, Tyras,
over 220 Bird species, and the Olive Ridley and Hawkbill Turtles.
Several tours are offered, at Hacienda Baru..canopy exploration, with platforms,
and ziplines also rainforest experience walks, either with or without guide;
there is also the butterfly and orchid gardens; if lucky you may see the turtle
egg's hatching, and the turtles being released into the Pacific Ocean there.
REPEL ~ KAYAK ~ REPTILANDIA
Kayaking is another great way to see the caves between
Ventanas Beach and Pinuelas Beach , a tour called "caves and waves",
or also kayak the mangroves.
Reptilandia a great place to learn about our local snakes and meet a komodo
dragon. Fridays is feeding day.
Repel the local waterfalls of Nauyaca and Diamante, you can also spend a
night in a cave behind the waterfall, provided by "Tree Of Life Tours".
HORSEBACK TO WATERFALLS OR BEACH
The best waterfall in all of Costa Rica, Nauyaca, is nearly in our backyard.
Horseback trips with breakfast and lunch included is a "must do".
FISHING ~ INSHORE OR OFFSHORE
Bring home dinner ~ Dorado, Mahi Mahi, Tuna.
WHALE WATCHING ~ SNORKELING ~ and
Exploring BALLENA MARINE NATIONAL PARK

They also provide boat tours to the Cano and Corcovado National Parks.
